Ace Austin is done with TNA Wrestling.
Ace Austin has been in TNA/Impact Wrestling since 2018. The company pushed him aggressively when he started out as Austin became the central figure around the X-Division. Ace Austin won the X-Division title three times in his career. There was a point where he seemed to be on the cusp of going into the main event scene.
However, Austin’s last few years in the company was spent teaming with Chris Bey. Known as ABC, the duo became a popular fixture within the division and won the TNA World Tag Team titles on three different occasions. Unfortunately, Bey suffered a devastating injury that has kept him on the sidelines indefinitely. Thankfully, Bey is recovering nicely, though Austin’s days as a tag team wrestler came to an end.
For the past few months, Austin went back to doing the singles thing and even challenged for the X-Division title at Genesis. However, it was first reported on Scott D’Amore Drop column on Yahoo’s The Uncrowned that Austin was leaving TNA.
“Nothing has been said publicly, but Ace Austin’s contract with TNA has come to term. Ace deciding to leave is amicable — he’s been there since he was barely out of his teens and he’s ready to step up. I signed him, and everything he’s shown since confirmed that Ace Austin becoming a massive star is, indeed, ‘inevitable,’” D’Amore wrote. “He’s ready for that next chapter. I think it is time Ace Austin goes all in on proving he’s one of the best.”
Other than a cryptic tweet, Austin had been silent over the rumors. Until now. The former X-Division Champion confirmed that his time has come to an end in TNA, but thanked the company for the phenomenal six-year run.
At the moment, there’s no word on where Austin is planning to go. There were claims that Austin was planning to go to one of the big companies, but it was never made clear if that was either AEW or WWE. There’s also no word on whether either promotion has interest in the 28-year-old.
Austin is a very good talent who carried himself well in TNA. It wouldn’t be surprising if he’s picked up by either AEW or WWE. Hopefully, there’s continued success for the former X-Division Champion outside of TNA.
